News: Brandon Sanderson UK Event Dates – Leeds + others

On 6th August 2014, at 1 PM, my two favourite pastimes are going to be at one place.

Brandon Sanderson + Waterstones = Bliss.

The tour is to promote and sign copies of, Words of Radiance: The Stormlight Archive Book Two, Brandon Sanderson will be going to various locations across the UK. Most importantly, he will be coming to Leeds, which is my local bookstore.

Words of Radiance is a sequel to the stunningly epic The Way of Kings, which was so epic that it had to split into Part One and Part Two. That was the main reason that I hadn’t picked up Words of Radiance yet, seeing that the hardback book resembled a brick (over a 1000 pages!).

That doesn’t matter! I will pick up the brick at the store, and get it signed, and also stare at my favourite author like a total creep. I’m allowed to do that (I think).

I actually had the opportunity to see Brandon Sanderson in Manchester when the initial UK tour for The Way of Kings was on, IF I skipped a lecture at Uni and travelled down. I ended up not skipping that lecture, and really regretted it. This time, I suppose I shall fangirl twice as much.

Brandon Sanderson will be visiting London, Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, and Nottingham. See the rest of the UK dates here.

News: Words of Radiance (Stormlight Archive Book 2) Release Date

“Of Extreme OCD-ness”

Author: Brandon Sanderson

Genre: Epic Fantasy, Action, Adventure, Age: YA+

Released: 6th March 2014 (UK version)

Following up on my post from eons ago, a lot of little details have appeared for the next book in the Stormlight Archive series. The release date for the UK version has also changed, and is now in March 2014. Pre-orders are being taken at all the usual places, (Amazon, Waterstones, etc) and this book is guaranteed to hit bestsellers’ lists all over the world.

However, in my usual infuriating way, I am refusing to pre-order this book, because… it isn’t the same size as the other books in the series. For some reason, newly released hardbacks and paperbacks are much larger than the paperbacks issued after the first year. (I’m not sure if this a UK-only issue, or not).

It is very obsessive compulsive, but I want to have an uniform collection, and since I only have the smaller paperback version of The Way of Kings (Stormlight Archive Book 1), then the rest of the series will have to follow suit.

The few details that I have allowed myself about this book is that it is about Shallan, and there are  some new characters for the interludes.  For the rest, I have covered my ears, and  sang loudly so no spoilers will come to me.

As usual the UK version of Brandon Sanderson’s books have covers by Sam Green. I absolutely adore his art style.

Words of Radiance is available for Pre-order at £20.00 for the Hardback edition.

“This had better be worth it…”

Author: Brandon Sanderson

Genre: Fantasy, Science Fiction, Drama, Age: YA+

Released: 31st August 2012 (UK version)

A short novella by my favourite author, published by small company, and imported into UK at an exorbitant cost.

After being used to Brandon Sanderson’s 600+ pages novels, it’s a shock to be holding this tiny 88 page story, despite the hardback cover.

I was intrigued by the promise of a new magic system (well it’s a mental condition), and a different plot to what I’ve read from him before.  Definitely looking forward to reading this, as well his other books.

News: Stormlight Archive Book 2 Estimated Release Date

“Pre-order a fictional book…”

Author: Brandon Sanderson

Genre: Epic Fantasy, Action, Adventure, Age: YA+

Released: 21st November 2013 (UK version)

Now that Brandon Sanderson’s work with the Wheel of Time series is complete, it’s an exciting wait to see what he does with his own epic fantasy series.

I’ve been fanatical about the Stormlight Archive series ever since the the first book, The Way of Kings, blew me away. The scope of the book was magnificent.

News: Alcatraz Omnibus Release Date

“This book carries a secret…”

Author: Brandon Sanderson

Genre: Fantasy, Comedy, Adventure, Age: Children’s+

Released: 20th September 2012 (UK version)

Being a big fan of Brandon Sanderson’s work, it’s always irked me that his Alcatraz books weren’t released in the UK. Instead, they were imported from the US, at an exorbitant cost.

Just when I’m about to shell out for the Alcatraz books, I spot a pre-order notice for the UK Alcatraz Omnibus

News: Emperor’s Soul Release Date

“Thief but with a Sanderson twist…”

Author: Brandon Sanderson

Genre: Fantasy, Action, Adventure, Age: YA+

Released: 1st November 2012 (UK version)

Brandon Sanderson ensures that magic is kept alive with this short novella. It features a completely new character, albeit one with an interesting magic ability. From the blurb, I’m somehow heavily reminded of Warbreaker.

Book: Elantris Review

“Elantris rescues fantasy readers with it’s murky diseased gods..”

Author: Brandon Sanderson

Genre: Fantasy, Action, Adventure, Age: Adult

Released: 11 August 2011 (UK Version)

Elantris is the debut novel of my favourite author; Brandon Sanderson. Although many readers would have read it as a debut novel, Elantris was in fact released AFTER the Mistborn Trilogy in the UK, making it the second Sanderson series that people read.

Princess Sarene has fallen in love with a dead man that she’s only conversed with a few times, but never met. Prince Raod is exiled after becoming a diseased god. Hrathen wants to save the city from destruction, but stripping it of all other knowledge.

Warning! Contains spoilers!

News: A Memory of Light Release Date

“Too excited to speak!”

Author: Brandon Sanderson

Genre: Fantasy, Adventure, Age: Adult

Released: 8th January 2013 (UK version)

I haven’t finished reading this series. Currently, I’m still on the second book, so it’s a long way to go before I reach the 14th! However, I’m looking forward to this series as much as the next person, and have my fingers crossed that it will end as epically as it started.

There’s no way I can upload the blurb without spoiling it for a lot of people, but I will be updating this blog with it closer to the date.

For anyone interested in the series, feel free to read the blurb for the first book as well the review, and the blurb for the second book.
