Anime: Binbougami ga! – Episode 10 Summary + Review

“So you think you can have a pet, and have it not turn into a deity…?”

(The new version of pokemon is more abusive towards animals)

Studio: Sunrise

Genre: Surreal, Drama, Fantasy, Comedy, Age: 13+

Released: July 1 2012 – onwards

From the last episode, Sakura takes in a cute kitten, who she names Fluffy. Although Momou isn’t happy about the competition, everyone else loves it, including the cold-hearted Sakura.

This episode contains material not suitable for younger viewers!

On going to the toilet, she finds the Ibuki, who is a strange poop-head in a brown body suit. He claims to have no relation to Momiji, however he warns Sakura about her fortune draining effect on others.

(“STOP! I don’t want to know who, or what, you are!”)

On coming home one day Sakura finds that Fluffy has been taken hostage by none other than Momiji. After going to the gym, Momiji taunts her about caring for a kitten, in a rare way the she never cares for people.

They fight it out, and eventually Momiji steals Sakura’s fortune and heads out.

(Momiji leaps up for a sky battle!)

By a freak accident, a fire starts at the gym and Momiji heads back to rescue both Sakura and the kitten.

(If Sakura dies, who else will be the main character?)

Finding herself trapped in a burning building, Ibuki appears to tell her that the kitten will most likely die. Sakura’s drained almost all of it’s fortune, and it didn’t have much to begin with either.

(This is definitely the time to be lecturing Sakura, for sure…)

Ibuki rescues the kitten by giving it some of his own fortune, but accidentally turns it into a beckoning cat god. Tama leads Sakura out of the building, where Sakura summons her creatures to put out the fire.

(The new devil on everyone’s shoulder)

At home Sakura wears the necklace that Ibuki gave her, so that she won’t drain fortune from her surroundings.

It’s found out that the necklace was from Momiji, in a roundabout way because she arranged for Sakura to pick up the kitten, care for it, and have Ibuki give her the necklace.

(Tama’s stares might get weird, now that she has intelligence….)

Overall, the episode was okay. It was a bit fragmented, but everything tied together at the end. Sakura finally has a god of misfortune device on her being. It might be important, it might not. It might mean that Sakura’s heading down the character development path.

Rated – 3/5 Original, but a little weird…
