The pirates live in a typical pirate ship. In the middle of the night, the three sneak on, and are met by masked men.

(The least jolly ship on the anime seas…)

Nova uses a controlled version of his Power of Death to put them to sleep. They will wake up when he loses consciousness, unlike his father who got an uncontrolled blast.

(“Do you want us to turn around and cover our ears while you discuss your strategy?”)

After Liberta and Falicita have dragged both Nova and his father to the deck of the ship, a masked man greets them. Liberta’s recognises him as the person who rescued his from his orphanage (episode 4).

(The Arcana family should really invest in guns…)

The masked man defeats all three of them. The person is revealed to be Dante, and he wanted the three to be able to get stronger in their powers.

(Dante’s death-eater mask takes a fatal hit…)

The three are locked up in a dungeon under the Arcana mansion. The rescue was some sort of test and Jolly reveals that their punishment for losing is to be locked up.

(“No food until you get stronger..”)

Overall, this episode is in bad taste. Who on earth kidnaps a comatose adult to try and make the child get stronger with his power?

The plot-threads from the previous episodes weren’t followed either, even though Jolly makes an appearance at the end. There is also a repetition of Dante and his masked costume… for some reason.

Even though this episode finally had some excitement, the fighting animation is weak. Characters stand around for ages talking, and no-one moves. Yup, because talking is okay in the middle of a fight.

Rated – 1.5/5 Crawling forward. Will it ever get to the tournament action promised?
