Anime: Binbougami ga! – Episode 4 Summary + Review

“Woof Woof Woof Temptation…”

(A new challenger has appeared!)

Studio: Sunrise

Genre: Surreal, Drama, Fantasy, Comedy, Age: 13+

Released: July 1 2012 – onwards

From the last episode, Momiji summons her Dog God, Inugami Momou, to help her take Sakura’s fortune.

Momou is weird to say the least, but he’s loyal and agrees to help Momiji.

This episode contains material not suitable for younger viewers!

After an affectionate reunion with Momji, he transforms into his “true form”.

(Momiji is well loved by her pet… no really)

Was anyone expecting something cool?

Momou turns out to be a quivering puppy, who will entice his way into Sakura apartment and Fortune.

(Momou got tips from The Hulk on how to store invisible clothes)

After reluctantly taking the dog in, Sakura is cursed by Momou and has a taste of bad luck for the first time in her life. She manages to lose her letters from Suwano, her butler, who she cherishes like a father.

After spending all night looking through bins to find the letters, Momou sees her as a sensitive person.

(Sakura hunts for her dinner, most exclusive place in town…)

He helps Sakura find the letters again, and she’s very grateful.

(“OMG, someone threw away a whole cake!”)

After discovering that Momou’s actually a huamanoid guy… well, things don’t got down well.

Momiji jumps in for a giddy fight, but Sakura’s in no mood and blasts them all out into the sky.

(This grand entrance is funded by Misfortune Gods’ Department Trust)

Overall, I’m in two parts about this episode…

The basic story was okay; I liked that Sakura had a human side that more people, besides Momiji, are discovering. She still doesn’t have any real friends though, but Keita from the previous episode makes an appearance next time.

But in a way, Momou and Momiji took things too far. I don’t prefer to see characters whipped, or excessive nudity from Sakura. On the other hand, the parts that didn’t offend me were funny.

Let’s see how the next episode goes.

Rated – 2.5/5  Some parts not to my taste, but characters are developing well.

See the next episode!
