Movie: Marvel’s Avengers Assemble

“Movie avengersss!!”

I watched Avengers Assemble a couple of days ago, and in all honestly, it was one of the most amazing blockbusters to come out this year. People have been squealing about this movie for quite a while, but I didn’t pay much attention to the hype. Why? Because I don’t watch super-heroe movies with ardour. I guess I should have known better from last year’s X-men: First Class movie..

After I’d watched the movie though, I was BLOWN AWAY, and as such, this is probably the most spoil-free review that a person can make! I really, really want people to watch it themselves because it is much better appreciated in person.

Studio: Marvel Studios

Genre: Action, Superhero, Age: YA+

Released: 26th April 2012 (UK Version)

The story revolves around the earth being threatened by the norse-god Loki who wants a small cube thing called a Tessaract, and earth’s heroes are called into defeat him.

Loki plans on taking over the world and only super-powers can match him. The story-line is paper-thin, but that doesn’t matter, this is an action movie after all!

Demi-god Loki (played by Tom Hiddleston) is a rootable villain!

Initially, I thought this was an odd selection of heroes for a movie. I just couldn’t see the interactions working at all, but the writers handled the super-heroes interactions perfectly.

Nick Fury (played by Samuel L. Jackson)

The scenes between the characters are handled with care, and if there’s a particular character you are rooting for, fear not, because the screen time is divided up surprisingly well.

Tony Stark, Ironman (played by Robert Downey Jr)

Captain America (played by Chris Evans)

Bruce Banner, Hunk (played by Mark Ruffalo)

Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth)

Clever dialogue between characters, but particularly from Tony Stark, a.k.a. Ironman, just makes this charming.

The fight scenes and super-power show of strengths are handled amazingly, with clever motions and quick paced combat.

I was very also impressed by how the lighting made the character’s costume, particularly Captain America and Hulk were made contemporary.

Side characters also play an important part, but I felt that this time, the super-heroes really stole the show.

Natasha Romanoff (played by Scarlett Johansson)

Clint Bartn, Hawkeye (played by Jeremy Renner)

The story does move onto a larger problem than just Loki in the end, but the overall movie is amazingly capable of captivating an audience. Even Marvel newbies won’t want to miss this. Everything is explained and as long you are willing to suspend your disbelief for a couple of hours, you won’t regret watching this.

Rated – 4/5 Amazingly good, will win over new and old fans.
